After 39 years at ETH, Peter Uggowitzer officially retired from his duties. He continues as a guest professor at the external page University of Leoben
Peter Uggowitzer (born in 1950) joined the ETH Zurich in 1981 where in 1993 he completed his habilitation in the group of Prof. Markus O. Speidel. In 1996 he was awarded the title of Professor at ETH Zurich, and in 2003 he joined the LMPT. His research at LMPT focused on light metals (Mg and Al), highly corrosion-resistant Fe-based alloys, and biodegradable materials.

After 31 years at ETH, Bernd Schönfeld left for his well-deserved retirement.
Bernd Schönfeld (born in 1950) joined the ETH Zurich in 1984 where in 1994 he completed his habilitation in the group of Prof. Gernot Kostorz. In 2002 he was awarded the title of Professor, and in 2006 he joined the LMPT. His research at LMPT focused on order and decomposition in alloys, studied in particular with X-rays / synchrotron radiation and neutrons, with the aim of an improved understanding on the atomic scale.
